Olympique Lyonnais has announced the details of its new season in the 2026-27 UEFA Champions League, which will see the club compete against some of Europe's top teams.
The French champions have been confirmed as one of the eight teams to qualify for the group stage of the competition, and they will be joined by Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool and Chelsea.
The Lyon team will face off against the likes of Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain, who were crowned champions of France last season, and Erling Haaland and Sergio Ramos from Borussia Dortmund, who won the Bundesliga title this year.
The Lyon team will also have to contend with the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Erling Haaland from Bayern Munich, who were both named the Bundesliga player of the year earlier this year.
The Lyon team will play their home games at Stade de Gerland, which is located near the city centre, and they will have access to a state-of-the-art training facility.
The club's CEO, Jean-Michel Aulas, said: "We are excited to be part of the UEFA Champions League, and we are looking forward to competing against some of the best teams in Europe."
He added that the club was proud to represent the country on the world stage, and that it would do everything possible to ensure that the Lyon team could achieve success in the competition.
The Lyon team will start their campaign in Group B, where they will face off against Inter Milan, Porto and AC Milan.
They will then move onto Group C, where they will face off against Ajax, Benfica and Atletico Madrid.
