The Haigang Seals secured their first victory of the China Soccer League (CSL) championship with a convincing 2-1 win over the Shandong Luneng in the opening match on Sunday.
The Seals, who were looking to bounce back from a disappointing season last year, dominated the game and took the lead early on through a goal by forward Zhang Yufei. The Shandong team responded well and levelled the score shortly before halftime, but the Seals regained the lead thanks to another goal from midfielder Huang Jingyu.
Despite being behind for most of the second half, the Seals continued to press forward and managed to find a way past their opponents' defense to secure the win. Forward Zhou Xingwen scored the final goal of the match in the 87th minute to give the Seals all three points.
This was a significant win for the Seals as they looked to establish themselves as one of the top teams in the league. They now face a tough challenge against their rivals in the next round of matches, but with their recent form and experience, they will be confident of making a strong showing at the CSL championship.
